Supportive housing
The 51-unit Hutchison Block provides low-barrier housing with 24/7 supports.
Mental Health Workers are available round the clock to support residents, along with home support workers, to help residents maintain their independence. There are meals provided by the PHS food program, and on-site therapeutic activities available.
The eight-storey building was constructed as an office block in 1910 and converted into SRO accommodation after the First World War. It was known as Park Hotel for decades, until being purchased by the provincial government in April 2007. After being restored by BC Housing it was named Hutchison Block.
PHS began operating Hutchinson Block in June 2024.
Hutchison Block has been listed on the City’s Community Heritage Register since 1986.
