Low-barrier supportive housing, healthcare and harm reduction save lives
The Alexander Street Community consists of low-barrier permanent housing as well as clinically supported transitional housing for individuals with physical and mental health issues and substance dependencies.
The building includes multi-purpose spaces where tenants can receive education, training and links to community health services. Programs for residents include art and music therapy, a food program which provides nutritional information and meal preparation skills, Indigenous healing, gardening and yoga. Residents also have the support of a PHS mental health worker, an on-site nurse and social worker to address their needs.
